The memorial sites which can be accessed from the list below are a mixture of early local community initiated commemorative sites and post-1994 counter-memorialisation projects. The former commemorate a wide variety, including historically important individuals as well as political events and violence. The latter tend to be larger and grander and frequently feature museums and other instructional aspects which seek to raise larger questions about the political context which brought about the events and deaths being commemorated.
