Women’s Memorial, Union Building, Pretoria

That Women’s Memorial commemorates both women’s part in the larger freedom struggle and also a 1956 mass march of women which ended at the Union building. It is part of a kind of heritage trail starting in Market Square in Pretoria and leading up to the Union building.

 

 

And a reminder that commemoration at the Union building remains generally masculine.
